About Jim C., Author of Sobriety Chronicles

My name is Jim C., author of www.sobrietychronicles.com, and today I am sober with more than fifty years of continuous sobriety, one day at a time. I created this journal and these essays to show that lasting sobriety is possible—and that no one has to walk this journey alone.
I took my last drink on May 10, 1976. At the time, I never thought I could face life without alcohol. I was wrong. I surrendered my life and my disease to a loving God and learned to live life to its fullest, one day at a time.
That last day of drinking became a turning point in my life. Along the journey, I discovered that recovery is not a single event. We practice recovery every day through the way we live, the choices we make, and the way we face life’s challenges.
I write these stories because alcoholism kills, and I know that others are facing the same struggle. But I also know there is hope and a solution to our dilemma.
This journal does not offer advice from someone who has figured everything out. Instead, it shares the experience of an ordinary person who found lasting sobriety, made mistakes, learned from them, and kept moving forward.
